Business challenge

The founders came up with the idea of Olimp when they faced difficulties searching for short-term warehousing as a truck company.

They noticed that when rejected at delivery, drivers had to find a stopover point for their freight. Having no special service for that, they would spend hours trying to find and book a suitable warehouse location on the Internet. Searching for warehouses with all the needed services and scheduling their visits was time-consuming and added extra load to all the staff. Especially if the driver was in an unfamiliar city or state. And if in the end they failed to find a location, drivers would have to head back to the shipper, which doubled their transportation time and contributed to carbon emissions.

Warehouses also felt the lack of a digital solution: they didn’t have a platform, other than the Internet search, where they could promote their services, connect with carriers, or monitor their workflow.

The industry needed a convenient service to satisfy the unmet needs of both drivers and warehouse owners. Olimp founders realized that, and contacted HeyInnovations to develop a handy digital tool for searching, booking, and managing warehouse visits right on the go.

How we tackled the tasks

Desktop and mobile

Adaptive web design for quick start and easy access from all devices

When they turned to us, Olimp were deciding between a mobile app or a website for their service. They wanted to start with the safest option to launch fast, gauge the audience, and see if the idea catches on.

We suggested developing an adaptive website. Such a website works on desktop and has an adapted version to fit mobile devices. In our case, it meant that Olimp could target maximum users, regardless of whether they had Android or iOS devices, saving resources and time on development.

Security

Designed registration forms in compliance with laws and regulations

Olimp aimed to build a safe network of carriers and warehouses complying with local and federal regulations. That’s why we created separate registration forms with different features depending on the client type.

Booking

Convenient warehouse search to help drivers find relevant services

To make Olimp a go-to warehouse booking solution, we had to enable a fast and precise warehouse search. Oftentimes, drivers need to find locations with specific services: cross-docking, transloading, pallet reworks, or freezers. To help drivers save time and connect to the right warehouses faster, we placed all the needed parameters right on one search page.

Olimp displays the final prices with the search results so that drivers and managers know exactly how much they will have to pay. Such transparency builds trust in the company and helps attract more users to the service.

To start searching, drivers indicate their location either manually or using the inbuilt geolocation services. In the same form, they specify the number of pallets, duration of stay, and required services.

Olimp searches for the warehouses with the given parameters and returns a list of options to choose from. The list features all the important information: warehouse address, distance from the driver, rating, and total cost.

Clear operations for better user experience and higher retention

With this project, agility and simplicity were our key objectives, as we aimed to develop a service that would be efficient and easy to use on the go. That’s why we eliminated all redundancies and created a clear booking process with safe online payment and free customer support in case of emergencies.

Order management

CRM system for warehouses to manage capacity and optimize revenue

To help Olimp create more value for warehouses and grow their network, we created a customer relationship management system.

The Olimp CRM system helps warehouse managers track their capacity, book orders, and contact carriers. The system can be used to process Olimp-only orders, and as a main customer relationship management platform to control all the bookings in the warehouse.

Order lists to keep track of incoming requests

All incoming orders go to the Order list, where managers can sort, view, and confirm them. The system sends a notification once it gets a new request so that warehouse managers never miss an order.

Order card to view booking details and communicate with drivers

To view more information about the order, managers access the Order details section. It contains contact information of the carrier, required services, and the total price of the order.

Calendar to plan warehouse operation

Once the order is confirmed, it goes straight to the calendar so that warehouses can track and manage their workload.

Outcomes

We created an adaptive website for a unique digital service in less than a year. After release, we handed the project over to our client for further development and support.

Together with Olimp, we brought a brand-new solution for the logistics industry. We kept the usual functionalities of an online booking platform and added industry-specific features to deliver a clear and efficient user experience.
